Nuclear zoning code for Linn County passes first vote from supervisors

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — The Linn County Board of Supervisors approved its first reading of an ordinance to create its first nuclear zoning code by a 3-0 vote.

The board will vote on a second and third readings Wednesday and on Sept. 3 before it is officially passed. The ordinance lays out how companies would apply to build nuclear facilities, what steps they would need to take and the agreements they need to make with local communities.
