Hiawatha man first in the state sentenced to life in prison for trafficking a minor

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — A Hiawatha man is the first person in Iowa to be sentenced to life in prison for human trafficking a minor.

Jarod Anderson was found guilty of the charge after his Linn County trial in February. His sentence is the first handed out after the passage of a 2023 Iowa law that raises the penalty for the crime.
