Fire crews continue work at Beverly Gardens after large debris pile fire

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Fire crews remain on site at Beverly Gardens after a massive tree debris and brush pile fire broke out Tuesday in the 4900 block of Edgewood Road SW.

The blaze, which grew to 15 feet high and was surrounded by several feet of shredded mulch, required thousands of gallons of water and help from multiple mutual aid departments to contain. Crews from Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation and Public Works also assisted, using heavy equipment to separate burned and unburned material.
