The trial of 66-year-old Terry Lee Wertz of Parnell, who was charged with two felonies related to a May hit-and-run crash that resulted in one death, has been set for February 3rd. The trial will be held in Linn County.
Wertz has been charged with homicide by vehicle, reckless driving a class C felony, and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, a class D felony.
According to court records, on May 27th Wertz was allegedly passing a vehicle driven by Willam Tomson on a two-lane road in a reckless manner with oncoming traffic. Tomson’s vehicle left the roadway to avoid being struck and entered the ditch near Fairfax. Authorities responded to the scene to find Tomson’s vehicle on its top in the ditch.
