CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — The veterinary profession is facing a critical shortage of veterinarians and veterinary technicians, a situation that has been worsening since the COVID-19 pandemic, according to industry experts.
“It’s been over the last few years. COVID revealed a lot of it, but there’s definitely a veterinary shortage, shortage of veterinarians. There’s also a shortage of veterinary technicians,” Randy Ackman, a professor veterinarian at Kirkwood Community College, said.
