CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight is taking more than 90 veterans to Washington, D.C. on Thursday. The veterans and their guardians will tour he World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War memorials, as well as Arlington National Cemetery.
The veterans will arrive at the Eastern Iowa Airport at 5:15 and take off around 7 a.m. on Tuesday. A welcome home celebration for the veterans will start at 7:30 p.m. featuring police and fire personnel, a military band and flag line. The veterans are scheduled to land at 9:00 p.m.
“We encourage the entire community to come together to welcome our heroes home,” said Eastern Iowa Honor Flight President Lynette Voss. “The ‘Welcome Home’ celebration is a chance to show our gratitude for their service and sacrifices. Your support means the world to these veterans. Let’s give them the homecoming they deserve!”…
