A horse-drawn buggy collided with a car on the Washington-Johnson County Line Road in rural Kalona Friday morning, causing injuries to both the buggy driver and the horse.
Johnson County authorities were notified of a crash involving a vehicle and a horse-drawn buggy at 7:23 a.m. Friday morning. According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, both vehicles were driving eastbound on the County Line Road near the Larch Avenue intersection, with the car driving behind the buggy. The car driver, Brennan Petersheim, was unable to see the buggy in front of him due to the rising sun and rear-ended the buggy. The collision caused the buggy’s driver, Erma Mast, to be thrown from the vehicle and the horse to be injured.
