Back in January, we got word that Homemakers Furniture was set to build its first location in here Eastern Iowa. Well, we’re happy to report that an official groundbreaking ceremony is set for next week!
About Homemakers Furniture
Homemakers Furniture was started right here in Iowa by Carl and Ina Merschman. According to the business’ website, the Merschman family opened their first furniture store in St. Paul, Iowa back in the 1940s, eventually founding and opening the first Homemakers Furniture in Des Moines in 1974. The company just celebrated its 50 year anniversary last year!
As far as furniture goes, Homemakers has a little bit of everything. They offer sofas, recliners, tables, beds, mattresses, desks, dressers, vanities, lighting, outdoor furniture, home decor, and more. In addition to shopping in-store, you can also order from the Homemakers Furniture website, which ships nationwide.
The New Store
The new Homemakers Furniture store will be located in Tiffin’s Park Place Development right off of I-380 between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City. It will be the second location for the furniture store and the first here in the Eastern half of the state. The official press release reads:
