There’s a new breakfast and lunch spot to check out this fall!
Earlier this month, Odd Mama’s Vintage Cafe opened its doors at 1201 3rd St SE in Cedar Rapids. The cafe/shop is located in the main dining room of the former Chrome Horse Saloon in the NewBo District, which closed in late 2024.
After seeing a few photos of the new cafe on social media, I knew I needed to go check it out! We did just that on Sunday, October 19th. Here’s a recap of our first visit (photo gallery is at the end):
The Decor
First of all, the inside of the cafe is adorable. The high ceilings and big windows make the space feel huge, and I love the wood paneling, the book shelves, the hanging lights, the vintage decor, and the greenery throughout the cafe. You can even dine at a table that’s inside the old bank vault, which is pretty awesome. Plus, you can shop some goods from local vendors while you’re waiting for your food! Oh, and they serve your food and beverages with fun, vintage dinnerware, and each table features unique salt & pepper shakers! Ours were shaped like red bell peppers.
The Food & Beverages
As far as food and beverages go, everything on the Odd Mama’s menu was reasonably priced. We opted for breakfast items, because it was shortly after 9 a.m., but they also have a lunch menu that’s slightly larger. I ordered a mimosa and a Denver omelette with breakfast potatoes, while my friends ordered blueberry pancakes, banana pancakes, and the Brown Sugar Coffee (one with a shot of Bailey’s!). Next time we plan to come a little later to check out some of the items on the lunch menu!
