MARION, Iowa (KCRG) – A shooting early Sunday morning left a woman with serious injuries. At around 4:25 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19, the Marion Police Department received a report of gunfire inside the Sleep Inn on Dyer Avenue. Upon arriving at the scene, first responders found a woman who had been shot and seriously injured. She was taken to the hospital. This incident is still under investigation. This was determined to be a targeted incident and there is no threat to the public.
MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (KCRG) – Authorities said two people were injured after a crash in Marshalltown early Sunday morning. Iowa State Patrol said a car was traveling at a high rate of speed on E. Olive Street around 1:15 a.m. Sunday when it lost control at the intersection of S. 12th Ave. The car left the roadway, striking a sign before rolling. The passenger of the car was airlifted to a local hospital. They were not wearing a seatbelt. The driver was also taken to a local hospital.
MUSCATINE, Iowa (KCRG) – A garage fire occurred on Saturday, Oct. 18. At around 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, the Muscatine Joint Communications Center received a 911 call about a truck on fire in a detached garage on East 4th Street. The incident commander noticed heavy smoke while on the way to the scene and called for additional units. Upon arrival at the scene, first responders found the garage completely engulfed in flames and fire spreading to the nearby house. Crews were able to extinguish the fire to both the garage and the house, but initial damage estimates are at approximately $100,000. No bystanders or occupants were injured, but one of the firefighters did receive a minor injury. That person was treated at the scene and was able to return to duty.
