Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has earned a major distinction as one of the safest cities in the United States for 2025. The ranking comes from a new report by WalletHub, which analyzed more than 180 major cities across the country.
WalletHub Evaluates Safety Across the U.S.
WalletHub’s annual study examined cities nationwide using dozens of factors related to safety and stability. Researchers looked at community safety, financial security, and natural disaster risk, along with data such as assault rates, traffic deaths, unemployment, and health insurance coverage.
The goal, according to WalletHub, is to identify “the safest cities in America that protect residents from threats of bodily harm and property damage but also help secure people’s financial safety.”
Cedar Rapids Lands in the Top 20
Cedar Rapids ranked 19th overall—placing it among the top 20 safest cities in the country. That’s an impressive achievement for a city of its size and a testament to its community values, low crime rates, and strong local leadership.
Other high-ranking Midwest cities included Overland Park, Kansas; Madison, Wisconsin; and Fargo, North Dakota, showing that the region continues to stand out nationally for safety and quality of life.
