On November 4, 2025, the City of Cedar Rapids recognized ‘Support the Fight Against Food Insecurity Day’ at a City Council meeting. Mayor Tiffany O’Donnell read a proclamation about the issue of food insecurity in Eastern Iowa. She noted the work of the HACAP Food Reservoir, which partners with about 300 local agencies to provide food to families in need.
Mayor O’Donnell said food insecurity affects many people in the community. She encouraged residents to support local food banks. She said these organizations help ensure people in Cedar Rapids have enough to eat.
