CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Crime in Cedar Rapids continues trending downward, according to new data released by the Cedar Rapids Police Department.
From January through October, reports of vehicle thefts and shots fired are significantly below both 2024 levels and the city’s five-year average, signaling what police call a “durable trend” of safer streets.
The department’s October crime summary shows 34 shots-fired events so far this year — a 23% drop from 2024 and a 63% decline compared with the five-year average.
