(Iowa City, IA) — The University of Iowa went into lockdown Friday afternoon after gunfire was reported near the campus.
The Iowa City Police Department confirmed on social media that they were investigating a shots fired incident in the 900 block of East Burlington Street, just off campus.
A Hawk Alert update sent at 2:15 p.m. clarified that the incident originated off campus. However, students and staff were urged to remain vigilant and continue sheltering in place.
