Washington Man Arrested on Multiple Felony Charges in Linn County

A Washington man was arrested on a Linn County warrant for multiple felony charges on Friday.

The Washington Police Department assisted another agency and arrested 22-year-old Drake Kron of Washington on violation of a no contact order on the original charges of trafficking stolen weapons, a class D felony, a false report to public safety entities, a class D felony, domestic abuse assault with strangulation, assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, both aggravated misdemeanors, assault causing bodily injury, and obstruction of emergency communication to 911, both simple misdemeanors.

According to court documents, on September 9th, Kron allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, strangling her with his hands and then with his arm impeding her normal breathing. Kron then allegedly took the victim’s handgun from her residence, pointed the handgun at the victim in a threatening manner, and bit her. Kron took the victim’s cell phone from her so she would not call the police for emergency assistance. Cedar Rapids Police reported that Kron contacted the police department to report an active shooter at Lindale Mall and that it was done in order to divert resources to the area so he could leave town due to the assault…
