1st Avenue Bridge in Cedar Rapids to close Thursday for flood control testing

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Drivers in downtown Cedar Rapids can expect delays Thursday as the city closes the 1st Avenue Bridge for flood control system testing.

City officials say the bridge will be closed between 1st Street East and 1st Street West on Nov. 13 while crews continue testing a flood control roller gate installed as part of the city’s permanent flood protection system.
