CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – KCRG and the Iowa Giving Crew are gathering donations to make sure eastern Iowans in need have a good Thanksgiving meal.
It’s called Operation Give Birds and what started as a prank has grown into the non-profit The Iowa Giving Crew which is doing much more than just Thanksgiving meals.
In 2017, someone put his buddy’s cell phone number on Craigslist saying he was giving away Thanksgiving dinners. He was not. But after seeing that there was a great need for these meals, his friends raised $1,500 to give out 80 Thanksgiving dinners to people in need. And the Iowa Giving Crew was formed…
