City Building Inspector Lucas Pump was recognized at the International Code Council (ICC) Annual Conference in Cleveland, Ohio. He received the Meritorious Service Award, which is given to individuals who contribute to the development of ICC codes and standards in the building safety industry.
Pump has worked for the City since 2009. He thanked his colleagues and the Iowa Association of Building Officials, where he leads the Code Development Committee. He said building codes are important for community safety and resilience. He noted that this work is often overlooked but is important for public well-being.
