The fate of the man charged with killing four people in a pole barn in rural Linn County is now in the hands of the jury. Both sides made their closing arguments yesterday in the murder trial of Luke Truesdell. Evidence presented in the trial included surveillance video from the property, DNA from the pipe used to hit the victims, and body camera footage from officers who questioned and arrested Truesdell. The defense did not call any witnesses. Romundus Cooper, Keonna Ryan and Amanda Parker were all pronounced dead at the scene. Brent Brown died later at the hospital. If convicted, Truesdell faces life in prison.

NextEra Energy is one step closer to restarting the Duane Arnold Nuclear Power plant after the company met with the Iowa Utilities Commission yesterday evening. NextEra says its main reason for opening the Duane Arnold nuclear plant is to power data centers set to come to Linn County. NextEra Energy says reopening the Duane Arnold Nuclear power plant near Palo would have a $9 billion impact on the state and bring around 400 jobs. The majority of people at a public meeting last night voiced support for the nuclear plant reopening. NextEra plans to have Duane Arnold fully operational in early 2029…
