Upcoming Playground Openings, Yard Waste Collection, and Community Updates for Marion Residents

The City of Marion will hold ribbon-cutting ceremonies for two new playgrounds next week. The first event is on Monday, November 17, 2025, at noon at Taube Park/Wilkins Elementary, 2200 31st Street. City officials, community leaders, and Linn-Mar Community School District representatives will attend. The second ceremony is on Thursday, November 20, at noon at Ascension Park, 875 S. 22nd Street. Both playgrounds were replaced as part of Marion’s annual equipment replacement program.

Marion’s curbside yard waste collection will continue through November 2025. The Public Works Department will decide if the service will be extended based on weather and community needs. The Yard Waste Drop-Off Facility at 193 35th Street will have special Sunday hours on November 16 and 23, from noon to 4 p.m. Regular hours remain on weekdays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays.

Residents are invited to take part in the 2025 National Community Survey. The survey is available online at polco.us/Marion2025 until November 26, 2025. It collects feedback on city services and priorities. Residents who received a mailed survey should not respond online…
