Cedar Rapids police pay for children’s winter clothes

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Cedar Rapids police helped 100 families buy warm winter clothes for their children during a holiday shopping event.

Officer Jonathan McDowell guided Elianna Marquette-Raymundo as she selected new winter gear during the shopping spree. McDowell is one of many officers participating in the program.

The Cedar Rapids Police Protective Charity funds the initiative entirely through donations. The charity expects to spend up to $25,000 buying clothes to help children get through the winter…
