BBB warning ahead of Giving Tuesday: Many people aren’t aware charities are seeing federal funding cuts

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – The Better Business Bureau’s (BBB’s) Give.org just released results from a national study, showing the majority of people who responded were not aware of cut funding for charities in 2025.

The BBB’s Give.org, which is also called the BBB Wise Giving Alliance, is a standards based charity evaluator, which looks at the trustworthiness of nationally soliciting charities. They will evaluate groups based on “20 holistic standards that address charity governance, results reporting, finances, fundraising, appeal accuracy and other issues.”

This newly released report is based on a survey of more than 1,500 U.S. adults, and found fewer than one in three people, or 32%, were aware of those reductions. Those that did know about the cuts viewed them as “either somewhat or very negative.”…
