New Automated Speed Cameras Coming to I-380 ‘S-Curve’; Enforcement Begins January 2026

The Iowa Department of Transportation has approved the City of Cedar Rapids’ request to add two Automated Traffic Enforcement (ATE) cameras on I-380. This brings the total number of cameras on the highway to four. The cameras are located at both ends and in both directions of the ‘S-curve,’ an area with documented safety issues.

The new cameras will begin a warning period on December 2, 2025. Full enforcement of speed violations will start on January 1, 2026. City officials state that the additional cameras are intended to address speeding and improve safety in this area…
