Residents raise questions about user fees for Marion ice loop

MARION, Iowa — A new ice loop at Central Plaza in City Square Park will officially open Saturday, Nov. 29, but the upcoming debut is prompting questions from some residents about why the public amenity comes with an admission fee.

The City of Marion has set pricing at $5 for adults and $3 for children. Operating hours will run 5–10 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, noon–10 p.m. on Saturdays, and noon–6 p.m. on Sundays. Amenities include skate rentals, a warming area and concessions at The Depot.
