Important Winter Storm Update: Marion Residents Face Parking Restrictions, Delayed Ice Loop Opening, and City Service Changes This Weekend

The City of Marion, Iowa, has activated Winter Storm Parking protocols. This follows a National Weather Service forecast of about 14 inches of snow between tonight and Sunday. The city aims to help with snow removal and keep residents safe during the storm expected in Eastern Iowa.

Parking restrictions will be in place from 10 p.m. Friday, November 28, to 5 p.m. Sunday, November 30. Parking on city streets is not allowed during this time, except in the central business district during business hours. The Marion Police Department will enforce these rules. Vehicles parked in violation may be towed or ticketed. Residents who cannot park on their property can use temporary parking at city parks and the former library site.

The opening of the Ice Loop at City Square Park has been delayed. It was set to open this weekend but is now planned for Thursday, December 4, at 5 p.m. City crews will focus on snow removal before preparing the skating area…
