MARION, Iowa — The City of Marion has activated winter storm parking restrictions and announced schedule changes as Eastern Iowa braces for up to 14 inches of snow between Friday night and Sunday.
Winter storm parking will be in effect from 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, until 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30. Parking is prohibited on all city streets during this time to allow crews to safely remove snow. Vehicles left on streets may be ticketed or towed. Normal business hours parking in the Uptown Marion central business district will not be affected.
Residents who cannot park on a hard-surface area of their property may use temporary parking at:
- Lowe Park, 4500 N. 10th St.
- Lowe Park, west entrance, 4401 Irish Dr.
- Taube Park, 2200 31st St.
- Willowood Park, 1855 35th St.
- Starry Park, 1480 Grand Ave.
- Peg Pierce Softball Complex, 3205 3rd Ave.
- Former library site, 1095 6th Ave.
The city also delayed the opening of the Ice Loop in City Square Park. The new opening is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 4, at 5 p.m., as heavy snow will make it difficult to maintain a quality skating surface and allow equipment operators to focus on citywide snow removal…
