JOHNSON COUNTY, Iowa — About 20 people attended an informational meeting on Tuesday over MidAmerican Energy’s proposed extension of a natural gas pipeline.
Project plans show a 7.3-mile natural gas pipeline in the southwest part of Johnson County.
This new pipeline would run along two of MidAmerican’s existing lines, a 16 inch natural gas pipeline and a 10 inch natural gas pipeline. The proposed one would be 20 inches in diameter.
Sarah Houlihan, a spokesperson with MidAmerican Energy, says the company needs to expand its natural gas pipeline capacity to supply Alliant Energy’s Prairie Creek Generating Plant in Cedar Rapids.
