CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – There’s no sign of another Arctic outbreak in our 9-day forecast.
Expect temperatures to climb into the low to mid 30s by daybreak on Saturday. Our high for Friday will likely be set just before midnight.
Mostly cloudy skies are likely tonight into tomorrow ahead of a cold front that will be dropping through the region. This front will have little moisture to work with, but it still could squeeze out a flurry or a sprinkle in northeast Iowa during the early morning hours as it passes by. Most of us stay dry.
This also means that temperatures will again reach their high in the late morning to early afternoon, likely in the low to mid 30s north and upper 30s to low 40s south. A slow fall in temperatures is likely in the afternoon, though it won’t be nearly as sharp as what we experienced on Thursday afternoon and evening. This is because the air mass moving in behind the front isn’t nearly as chilly, and the winds propelling it will not be anywhere near as strong and gusty. That’s good news if you’ve got plans that take you outdoors on Saturday, though you should still be ready to dress warmly.
That applies to the end of the weekend, too. Temperatures start out in the single digits to low 10s above zero, and only warm into the 20s for much of the area. A few low 30s could occur in the south. Overall, expect a chillier, but still reasonable for this time of year, end to the weekend…
