African American Museum of Iowa, NAACP group to host Kwanzaa celebration

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — The African American Museum of Iowa and W.I.N., a women’s committee of the NAACP, will host a community Kwanzaa celebration Saturday, Dec. 27.

The event is scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. and will be held in an open-house format. Organizers say the celebration will highlight African American heritage, culture and unity while offering activities for all ages.

The program will include interactive activities, food, local artisans and opportunities for learning and reflection. The seven principles of Kwanzaa, known as the Nguzo Saba, will be emphasized, including unity, self-determination and collective responsibility. The event is free and open to the public…
