Jail Suicide Attempt Prompts Emergency Response at Linn County Correctional Center

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA — An inmate at the Linn County Correctional Center was hospitalized early Tuesday morning following an attempted suicide inside the facility, according to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say Bryan Gall, 35, of Cedar Rapids, was found by staff in his jail cell with self-inflicted injuries. Gall was transported by Area Ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries before being returned to the Linn County Correctional Center.

The incident occurred early Tuesday morning, December 23, 2025. Officials confirmed Gall remains in custody and is currently being held on several charges with a $50,000 cash-only bond.

Court records show Gall is facing multiple charges stemming from incidents on December 21 and December 22, including:

  • Two counts of Controlled Substance Violation (Class D felonies)
  • Two counts of Failure to Affix Drug Stamp (Class D felonies)
  • Driving While License Denied or Revoked (Serious misdemeanor)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Simple misdemeanor)
