24 Hours to Contain IA Recycling Plant Fire

A massive fire broke out at a Cedar Rapids, Iowa, recycling facility forcing firefighters to battle the blaze for over 24 hours.

This response, firefighters said, was as much about coordination and endurance as it was about extinguishing flames. Firefighters got the call to ABC Disposal recycling facility Saturday night, December 20. Several factors helped keep the fire active well into Sunday, including the sheer amount of material burning.
