IOWA CITY, Iowa — Meals on Wheels, a program of Horizons, partnered with Oaknoll Retirement Residence on Christmas Day to deliver hot, freshly prepared meals to seniors across the community, ensuring older adults who were home alone still had a warm holiday meal.
Oaknoll’s dining services team prepared the meals on site, cooking extra portions alongside their regular Christmas Day menu.
“This is about helping seniors in the community,” said Bruce Titus, director of dining services at Oaknoll. “We make all the food here on Christmas Day, so we went ahead and made extra so that way we can get to seniors in need. Some seniors are home alone, and they get a nice hot, warm meal, even an apple pie to finish the meal off on.”…
