CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Cedar Rapids’ Paving for Progress program marked its 12th year in 2025, completing more than 50 street improvement projects as the city continues to address decades of deferred roadway maintenance.
The program is funded by a voter-approved 1% local option sales tax and focuses primarily on local and residential streets. Since its launch in 2014, the city has invested more than $250 million in roadway improvements.
“Twenty-five percent of the funding for Paving for Progress comes from people who don’t live in Linn County,” said Doug Wilson, the city’s Paving for Progress program manager. “People who use our streets help pay for our streets.”…
