CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – After 70-year-old Barbara Pettie died following a fire at her home on Christmas Day, the community is rallying around her family.
Local bar Basix has hosted a variety of fundraisers to support the Pettie family. Manager Nikkie Hernandez told TV9 she knows Barbara’s daughter, Leslie, and wanted to be there in this tragic time of need.
“I know Leslie through doing drag here at Basix,” said Hernandez. “She’s one of our performers who recently had moved away, and when all of this happened, she flew back home. We jumped on finding ways we could help out as quickly as possible.”…
