A Washington man was arrested on a Linn County warrant for multiple felony charges including weapons violations on Monday.
The Washington Police Department arrested 22-year-old Drake Kron of Washington Monday at 8:30 a.m. in the 200 block of North Marion Avenue. Kron was arrested on violation of a no contact order on several original charges including: trafficking stolen weapons, a class D felony; a false report to public safety entities, a class D felony; domestic abuse assault with strangulation and assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, both aggravated misdemeanors; and assault causing bodily injury and obstruction of emergency communication to 911, both simple misdemeanors.
According to court documents, on September 9th in Cedar Rapids, Kron allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, strangling her. Kron then allegedly took the victim’s handgun from her residence, pointed the gun at the victim in a threatening manner, and bit her. Kron took the victim’s cell phone from her so she would not call the police for emergency assistance. Cedar Rapids Police reported that Kron contacted the police department to report an active shooter at Lindale Mall and that it was done in order to divert resources to the area so he could leave town due to the assault…
