Cedar Rapids man previously convicted for involvement in murder sentenced for illegal gun possession

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A Cedar Rapids man who was previously sentenced for his involvement in a 2020 murder was sentenced Monday for illegally possessing a firearm.

22-year-old Marshawn Jeffries pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm as a felon on August 5, 2025.

Jeffries was a passenger in a rideshare car when the driver was pulled over for a broken taillight on February 25. Officers made him exit the vehicle after police said they smelled marijuana…
