Johnson County adopts construction evaluation rules for confinement feeding operations

JOHNSON COUNTY, IOWA — The Johnson County Board of Supervisors has unanimously approved a construction evaluation resolution that strengthens the county’s role in reviewing proposed confinement feeding operation projects.

The board adopted the resolution during its organizational meeting on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026.

By approving it, Johnson County will formally use the State of Iowa’s Master Matrix to evaluate applications for the construction, expansion or modification of confinement feeding operation structures…
