Linn County hears public support for Duane Arnold plant reopening, citing jobs and economy

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — The Linn County Board of Supervisors held its first and only public hearing on the rezoning application for the Duane Arnold Energy Center (DAEC) Monday morning.

The majority of the public comment was in favor of re-opening the center citing economic impact and job creation.

The Duane Arnold plant was shut down in 2020 and the plant has been moving through the decommissioning process. However, the growing demand for power from data centers has created a greater need for large amounts of energy.
