Cedar Rapids school district proposes $11M budget cuts, school consolidations

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – The Cedar Rapids Community School District revealed phase one of its two-phase proposal to cut $11 million from its budget during a meeting Monday night.

The district presented a graphic showing enrollment peaked during the 2017-18 school year, with revenue declining as enrollment dropped. District leaders said they used other funds to supplement the decrease, but that approach is no longer sustainable.
