Cedar Rapids Police release automated license plate data

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Cedar Rapids Police say there were more than 2,500 alerts from automated license plate readers (APLR) during the last three months of 2025. That’s a total of more than 12,600 alerts for the whole year.

Those alerts are for vehicles connected to crimes, like those reported stolen, connected to any missing persons, and plates connected to people that Law Enforcement are looking for.

The city has a total of 70 stationary plate readers and two that are in marked squad cars…
