Bank Robbery Reported at Hills Bank in Iowa City, Suspect Flees on Foot

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Police are investigating a bank robbery reported late Friday morning at a Hills Bank location on the city’s east side. Authorities say the suspect fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, prompting an active investigation and public request for information.

At approximately 10:19 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 9, 2026, officers with the Iowa City Police Department responded to Hills Bank, located at 2621 Muscatine Avenue, following a report of a robbery.

Police say the suspect left the area on foot shortly after the incident. Investigators have released an additional suspect photo and are urging anyone with information — including nearby security or doorbell camera footage — to come forward.
