Fairfax city clerk removed from position, leaving payroll and operations disrupted

FAIRFAX, Iowa (KCRG) – The city of Fairfax is now without one of its top employees following a city council meeting on Thursday night, resulting in immediate operational disruptions, including unpaid volunteer firefighters.

The council voted 3-2 against reappointing City Clerk Cynthia Stimson to her position, ending her tenure of more than a decade. The City Clerk position in Fairfax is a two-year term appointed position.
