Blizzard conditions will lead to difficult travel Wednesday in parts of eastern Iowa

Blizzard conditions are expected in parts of eastern Iowa Wednesday afternoon and evening. Travel could become difficult or even impossible as strong winds create whiteout conditions.

AS OF 11:30 AM: Linn, Benton, Jones, Buchanan, Delaware, Black Hawk, Grundy, Chickasaw, Bremer, Butler, Floyd counties are under Blizzard Warnings.

Strong winds have developed to our northwest and there are indications gusts of 50-60 mph could develop in eastern Iowa.

There’s already powdery snow on the ground and an additional inch of snowfall is expected Wednesday. The combination of these persistent winds and the fluffy snow will lead to blizzard conditions developing.
