The Iowa City Police Department is asking for the public’s help as it investigates a reported credit card fraud incident that occurred early Friday morning in downtown Iowa City.
Police say a stolen credit card was used at approximately 1:40 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, 2026, at Hawkeye Liquor, located at 108 E. College St.
According to authorities, the credit card had been reported stolen prior to the transaction. As part of the ongoing investigation, officers are attempting to identify and speak with a person of interest captured in an image released by police.
