A woman is dead following a shooting in Cedar Falls Thursday night. At 7:28 p.m., the Black Hawk County Dispatch center received a 911 call reporting a shooting at 1029 Maplewood Drive, Apartment 8, in Cedar Falls. The caller reported that a fight occurred between acquaintances and that one person had been shot. Police and EMS responded and performed lifesaving measures, but the woman died from her injuries. Police have a 21-year-old male in custody.

A Linn County deputy was treated and released from the hospital after he risked his life while trying to stop a wrong way driver on Highway 100 in Cedar Rapids. At one point, the deputy got out of his squad and tried to flag the person down. The deputy later got back into his squad car, got ahead of the driver and collided head-on before the car could hit other motorists. The Sheriff’s Office says the driver could face charges for Operating While Intoxicated, as well as charges for driving the wrong way, from the Iowa Highway Patrol…
