ICCSD students, board members navigate attendance policies relating to student demonstrations

With Iowa City Community School District, or ICCSD, students participating in walkouts to protest the presence of the U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, in Minneapolis, district leaders are facing questions about how attendance policies apply when students leave class to protest.

A group of over 100 high school students from West High and City High gathered on the University of Iowa campus on Feb. 5, holding signs to protest the killings of Renee Good, Alex Pretti, and others who have been impacted by ICE in Minneapolis.
