Cedar Rapids’ oldest west-side house still stands strong after 2020 derecho damage

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Iowa’s News Now) — Last week, Iowa’s News Now brought you the story of the Linn County History Center, where there are currently over 80,000 artifacts all housed in the Douglas Mansion. That’s one of the original homes in the part of Cedar Rapids once known as Mansion Hill.

We learned that one of the most popular requests made by those living in Linn County is to know more about the history of their home.

We also wanted to learn more about some of the oldest houses in Cedar Rapids, so we made a stop to 1860 E Ave NW for a tour of the oldest house on the west side of town…
