Police officer hurt after being dragged during traffic stop in Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa — A Mt. Vernon-Lisbon police officer was hurt after being dragged by a car during a traffic stop.

The Mount Vernon-Lisbon Police said the officer was directing traffic at 1st Avenue and 3rd. Street SE due to a blocked railroad crossing on Wednesday.

The officer tried to stop a car that was driving erratically in the area around 3:30 p.m. The driver stopped, but when the officer approached they sped away…
