Linn County supervisors approve data center zoning rules for unincorporated areas

LINN COUNTY, Iowa — The Linn County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to approve a data center ordinance for unincorporated areas of the county.

The ordinance establishes zoning regulations for both small and large data centers operating outside city limits. The rules address building setbacks, noise standards, traffic and road impacts, emergency planning and site plan review.

The county’s authority under the ordinance applies only to unincorporated Linn County and does not extend to data centers located within city boundaries…
