Suspended Nurse Facing Trial for Drug and Dependent Adult Abuse Charges

A North Liberty woman who formerly worked in a Wellman nursing home is facing prescription drug violation and dependent adult abuse charges.

Records show that 43-year old Rachel Flowers had been charged in October of 2025 with prescription drug violation and dependent adult abuse, both serious misdemeanors.

According to court documents, an investigation by the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals and Licensing, Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, found that Flowers was working as a nurse in Marion where she was a caretaker for a dependent adult. The patient told the investigator that he believed that he and Flowers were in a relationship. While the defendant was a caretaker she allegedly took prescription medication from the adult.
